Over my 30-year journey through the metaphysical jungle, I explored a vast array of ancient and modern belief systems including channeled teachings from New Age celebrities such as:
Jane Roberts "Seth"
J. Z. Night "Ramtha"
Lee Carrol's "Kryon"
Carla Rueckert, Don Elkins, and Jim McCarty's "Ra"
Darryl Anka's "Bashar"
Esther and Jerry Hicks "Abraham"
Seth, Ramtha, Kryon, Ra, Bashar, and Abraham are supposedly the names of invisible people that speak through the heads of their human channels. One might immediately realize the silliness of this performance, but unfortunately, we have plenty of naive adult children on the planet to keep this circus in business.
We all have an "Inner Self" that expresses through feeling, intuition, and archetypes. The true bio-spiritual way is to understand this inner world and not confuse it with the objective world. Expressing deep intuitive insights FROM aspects of ourselves can yield immensely powerful results but it also can produce a labyrinth full of delusions.
For decades, these people have promoted the same basic message through books and multimedia to thousands of believers worldwide. The claim and the message have been the same—a disembodied entity tells you how to create your reality.
I call this repackaged micro religion for the modern era. You have the same dualistic message soul inside a meat body, the same invisible authority figure, and the same ridiculous teachings that require faith to participate.
On YouTube, there is a new gold rush of channelers coming out of the closet eager to catch the wave. People are channeling dead celebrities and the recently deceased in popular news stories such as school shootings and cop killings. There is no shame in exploiting the dead.
The 10 Reasons Spirit Channeling is Bogus:
1. DUALISM - Science demonstrates that the mind or soul is a creation of the brain. These New Age concepts of reincarnation and volitional entrance into the earth realm, mixed with cherry-picked Psychology and Quantum Physics jargon comprise the "message" all channelers inject into their audience.
"There are good reasons to think it’s not true and we know this now from 150 years of neurology where you damage areas of the brain and faculties are lost. It is not that everyone with brain damage has their soul perfectly intact, they cannot get the words out. Everything about your mind can be damaged by damaging the brain. You can cease to recognize faces; you can cease to know the names of animals, but you still know the names of tools. The fragmentation in the way in which our mind is parcellated at the level of the brain is not at all intuitive, and there is a lot known about it."
"And what we’re being asked to consider is that you damage one part of the brain and something about the mind and subjectivity is lost, you damage another and yet more is lost, and yet if you damage the whole thing at death we can rise off the brain with all our faculties intact, recognizing grandma and speaking English."
— Sam Harris / Neuroscientist and Philosopher
2. PSEUDOSCIENCE - The message of channeled teachings does not accurately represent the science it refers to. Quantum Flapdoodle is used to force science into the hole of metaphysical wishful thinking.
The movie that made Quantum Flapdoodle famous is "What the Bleep Do We Know." It is a mix of pseudoscience produced and wrapped in the Ramtha School of Enlightenment organization. As you'll read below, the scientific community exposed the science and deception in the film.
David Albert, a philosopher of physics who appears in the film, has accused the filmmakers of selectively editing his interview to make it appear that he endorses the film's thesis that quantum mechanics is linked with consciousness. He says he is "profoundly unsympathetic to attempts at linking quantum mechanics with consciousness"
The American Chemical Society's review criticizes the film as a "pseudoscientific docudrama", saying "Among the more outlandish assertions are that people can travel backward in time, and that matter is actually thought."
According to João Magueijo, professor in theoretical physics at Imperial College, the film deliberately misquotes science.
Bernie Hobbs, a science writer with ABC Science Online, explains why the movie is wrong about quantum physics and reality:
"The observer effect of quantum physics isn't about people or reality. It comes from the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, and it's about the limitations of trying to measure the position and momentum of subatomic particles... this only applies to sub-atomic particles a rock doesn't need you to bump into it to exist. It's there. The sub-atomic particles that make up the atoms that make up the rock are there too."
3. HYPNOSIS/SUGGESTION - The delivery of channeled teachings is done by "suggestion" which is used in hypnosis. The information is spoken AS IF it was a fact and when delivered in a "word rolling" fashion induces trance states in humans. One can look at the method of Christian faith healers for example. Add to that, the language is nonsensical and removes a person’s mind from the natural world creating an alternate reality. Identification with this reality disassociates the person from the natural world and common sense such as in the case of the person who doesn't wear their seat belt because they believe nothing bad can happen to them due to their intention.
4. ERRONEOUS CLAIMS - The claims that an alien being or advanced spiritual entity is communicating through the human channel are debunked by the fact that not ONE channeled teaching ever taught us anything our sciences didn't already know outside of normal guesswork and speculation. The rest of it is nothing more than human imagination or repackaged dualism. There's no proof of information leading to the conclusion of the claim. The evidence leads to human beings bamboozling their audience by telling elaborate stories in order to get them to believe they are speaking to god, angels, spirits, aliens, and so on. Add in a host of other erroneous claims regarding earth's history, secret space projects, and consciousness, and you have all the ingredients of a manufactured story.
5. PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE - Channeled messages are all the same "thought cloud" of programming using big words, scientific jargon, psychological phrases, and New Age teachings.
Dimensions, Consciousness, Vibration, Frequency, Soul, Higher Self, past lives, time travel, etc. Words such as these are mixed into a nonsensical array of meaningless jargon sprinkled with common knowledge. One must read over and over the same phrases because they do not actually say anything beyond poetic dead-end knowledge. This confusing information is intended to keep the seeker indefinitely returning for more rather than educating them.
This life is nothing short of a condensing rebirth of unlimited serenity. We live, we exist, we are reborn. The goal of four-dimensional superstructures is to plant the seeds of choice rather than turbulence. We are at a crossroads of growth and discontinuity.
— Channeled quote
The above "word salad of Woo" takes a person out of the context of their natural world and reprograms them into a reality map that is NOT true or congruent with reality. It is a set of teachings that are mixed with fallacies and falsities that misrepresent science and common sense.
6. CONFIRMATION BIAS - Also called confirmatory bias or myside bias; is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one's preexisting beliefs or hypotheses, while giving disproportionately less consideration to alternative possibilities.
7. SPOON FED REALITY NONSENSE - The end result is the person will BUY more of the spoon-fed reality because they are addicted to it. Instead of doing their own hard work of thinking and learning about life, they have been BAMBOOZLED into a lie, they have been trapped by a mind manipulating hypnotic spell and now they are "funding zombies."
8. FAILED PREDICTIONS - Vague predictions are made that any intelligent human could guess at and hit somewhere in the ballpark. A so-called ancient spirit or hybrid alien has no more "guessing" success than someone who is informed on growing trends. Anybody can make predictions and will nail it here and there. But typically, that person isn't considered "alien" or spooky "psychic", just informed.
9. STORYTELLING ANIMAL - Humans are storytelling animals. Since the dawn of civilization, humans have had one thing in common — and that's storytelling. If you consider the role of religion and mythology throughout history it's almost impossible to separate storytelling from the course of human evolution.
Humans are pattern-seeking story-telling animals, and we are quite adept at telling stories about patterns, whether they exist or not.
— Michael Shermer
10. ADULT CHILDREN/IMAGINARY FRIENDS - We all know that children have a knack for telling wild stories as well as having imaginary friends. It is my belief that children who have been shamed for their imagination grow up with a deficit and seek out religion and spirituality to validate their native musings. The right of having an imaginary friend can be experienced in a religious/spiritual environment (Jesus, Allah, Angels, etc.). Even though this can be a healing experience it creates a "belief-dependent reality." Unless the adult child grows up, they fall prey to "arrested development" or prolonged adult infancy.
The dualistic story of a human being choosing to come here as a spirit to create reality disassociates the mind into two beings, a human and a spirit. This ideology further alienates people from the natural world and causes a "belief-dependent reality" that can cause delusions, hallucinations, and even depression. Cognitive Dissonance is another term used for the tension one experiences when holding two opposite beliefs simultaneously. Ideas on the level of a science fiction movie, taken literally, can create confusion and even disorientation when faced with the facts of life.
Although Channeling is a learning experience for seekers of enlightenment, it is all a self-deceiving act. If you really want to "wake up" — then wake up FROM Channeling.
